Why send food to Greece? Isn't it too expensive and isn't it better to buy the food in Greece?
“Yes” and “no”. The daily feed is dry food and comes from Greece. It fills the animals up, but is not the best quality. There is no other way to realise the costs. But “good food” is needed to raise the puppies, to help sick dogs recover and if you are distributing medication it is easier to give it with tinned wet food. And sometimes the dogs simply deserve to get something “special”.
Transport is worthwhile if you can collect the food from donations. Buying expensive food in Germany and then sending it would not be sustainable. That’s why I'm happy to receive donations of food and dog and cat items such as harnesses, collars, leads, blankets, transport boxes, etc. I then send these from time to time. I then send these to the shelter from time to time, depending on how much I collect.
Here are some impressions.
